“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence is therefore not an act but a habit.”

Someone put this quote up on facebook recently, and it really got me thinking about my habits, and about how one’s life is often made up of habits.

Some habits I’d like to include more often are 20 minutes of yoga stretching in the morning, reading every night, writing in my journal every night, taking the time to have more baths before bed, practising the piano more often, and being more creative …

Habits I’d like to get rid of include spending waaay too much time online, and watching too much tv.

What about you? Do you think life, at least to a certain extent, is made up of your habits? Are there any you would like to change?

  1. Wow, Katrina, you have me thinking there. I have many habits, good and bad as well. Yoga, reading and ginger tea are all good for me… hmmm, the bad? I may not go too much into them, but yes, definitely too much time online. But is that really bad? You go inside other people’s worlds a little, which gives us all a fresh perspective, maybe?

  2. Hi Tammy! Great ideas about habits you want to see more of in your life – hehe, it seems like many people are kind of similar in that they know what their lives SHOULD be like.

And excellent point about time spent online – I know that being exposed to different ideas has certainly opened up my mind, which can only be positive. I think for me it’s the lack of disciplined time spent online that annoys me in my life. If I decided that one or one and a half hours each day is fine, and set a limit so that it didn’t eat into other things I’d like to do then, for me, that would probably be better.
